Driver Terms & Conditions

1. Agreement to these terms

These driver terms and conditions ("Driver Terms") apply to every driver who registers with, or accepts trips from, Drink and Drive ("we", "us"). By registering as a driver or accepting a trip, you agree to these Driver Terms. If you don't agree with any part of them, please don't register or accept trips.

2. Your relationship with Drink and Drive

Drivers work with Drink and Drive on a trip-by-trip basis. Nothing in these Driver Terms creates an employment contract unless we have separately agreed one with you in writing. You are free to accept or decline trips offered to you.

3. Eligibility and registration

To drive with us, you must:

• Be at least 21 years old and legally allowed to work in Sri Lanka.
• Hold a valid Sri Lankan driving licence for the vehicle classes you will drive, and keep it valid at all times.
• Provide your National Identity Card, driving licence, a recent photograph, and any other documents we reasonably request.
• Agree to a background and police clearance check, and pass our screening and training.
• Give us accurate information, and tell us straight away if anything changes, including any suspension of your licence or any traffic offence.

4. Zero tolerance for alcohol and drugs

You must never consume alcohol, drugs, or any substance that affects your ability to drive before or during a trip. We may carry out checks at any time. Any breach of this rule will result in immediate removal from the Service.

5. Conduct on every trip

• Arrive at the pickup location on time, and let us know immediately if you will be delayed.
• Drive safely and obey all traffic laws and road rules of Sri Lanka at all times.
• Treat customers, their passengers, and their property with courtesy and respect.
• Take the most direct or customer-requested route, and do not make unauthorised stops.
• Do not use a mobile phone while driving, except hands-free for navigation.
• Do not smoke in a customer's vehicle.
• Dress neatly and present yourself professionally.

6. The customer's vehicle

Before starting a trip, check the customer's vehicle for visible damage and warning lights, and report anything unusual to us and the customer before you drive. Use the vehicle only for the booked trip. You may decline to drive a vehicle that you reasonably believe is unsafe or not roadworthy.

7. Safety and declining a trip

You may decline or end a trip if a customer's behaviour puts you, the customer, or others at risk, or if you are asked to do something illegal or unsafe. Contact us as soon as it is safe to do so. You must never leave a customer in an unsafe situation where it can reasonably be avoided.

8. Fares and payment

Fares are set by Drink and Drive according to our published rates, and are confirmed with the customer before the trip. You must not ask customers for extra charges or tips beyond the agreed fare. Your share of each fare, and how and when it is paid to you, will be confirmed with you by Drink and Drive. Any cash you collect on our behalf must be accounted for accurately.

9. Accidents, damage, and incidents

Report any accident, damage, traffic stop, fine, or complaint to us immediately, and follow the lawful instructions of the police. You are responsible for traffic fines and penalties caused by your own driving. Where damage or loss is caused by your negligence or misconduct, we may take this into account in any claim or decision about your continued work with us, to the extent permitted by the laws of Sri Lanka.

10. Confidentiality and customer privacy

Customer names, phone numbers, addresses, and trip details are confidential. Use them only to complete the trip. Do not contact customers privately, share their details, or post about them on social media. Customers' personal belongings must be left in the vehicle or returned to them.

11. Suspension and removal

We may suspend or remove a driver from the Service at any time for breach of these Driver Terms, customer safety concerns, repeated complaints, dishonesty, or any conduct that damages the reputation of Drink and Drive. You may stop working with us at any time by letting us know.

12. Changes to these Driver Terms

We may update these Driver Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with the "last updated" date shown above. Continuing to accept trips after a change means you accept the updated Driver Terms.

13. Governing law

These Driver Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
